“Learning Beyond”, the new artwork is located on the west wall of the Bonfire Lounge near SE 28th and Stark St. It features a multi-cultural and international theme and was painted with the help of friends and neighborhood volunteers and replaces a faded and worn mural painted on that same wall by Ping over twelve years ago. The group started the process on July 11 and finished the mural on August 30.
Public dedication for the mural was held on September 10, 2005 at the parking lot. Music, refreshments, and a special “eye-opening ceremony” was the highlights of this morning event. Music was performed by Dennis Godfrey.
